Participate in the preparation, presentation and cleanup for our Catering Operation, Cooking classes and Birthday Parties. For Chef's Tables & Private Events, the Kitchen assistant will be part of the team that plans the menu and prepares it, offering unique presentations and use of ingredients. On site events will host parties of up to 24 adults and 20 kids.
Off Site Catering event are from 20 to 300 guests.
Other duties in the operation of a commercial kitchen as assigned. Job Duties: 1- Cooking Classes Preparation and presentation: 30% Washing, cutting, chopping, measuring ingredients and setting the cooking stations, assisting with the presentation of the class, assisting with clean up.
2- Catering Cooking: 50% Processing ingredients, cooking a preselected menu and plate up. Clean up and kitchen closing procedures.
3- Private Events Preparation 20 % Recipe preparation, Tables set up, assisting attendees during the event.
Job Environment: Commercial kitchen with hot and cold equipment, indoors, with access to some outdoors events, weather permitting.
Part Time position (15 to 30 hrs a week).
Pay rate: Base on experience $13 to $15/ an hour.
Able to use and operate all pieces of the commercial kitchen equipment, small wares and appliances for food processing and preparation.
Knowledgeable about safety and sanitation techniques.
Able to use Computer and printer to produce copies of recipes if needed, but at a lesser degree.
Impeccable customer service skills since this position will be in direct customer interaction.
Minimum Requirements: Basic cooking technique and ingredients processing knowledge.
Required to have a Food Handler certification.
Highschool degree or equivalent
Ability to interact, work and clearly communicate with young children (6-14 y/o) and adults.
Ability to follow instructions, and work in a fast-paced environment when needed. Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
Able to lift, push and carry up to 50lbs Able to pass background check and drug test. Able to work a flexible schedule, including week ends and night shifts. 17 years of age or older due to the dinner service schedule, and kitchen equipment used. Alcohol Server certification preferred.
